Te nasze dziwactwo z 1000 m n.p.m. polega jeszcze na tym, że przewodnicy prowadzą wycieczki szlakami znakowanymi, a nie po bezdrożach, jak to było w XIX wieku. Wtedy wynajmowanie przewodnika miało sens, bo nie było gęstej sieci dróg i szlaków, a także ogólnodostępnych map topograficznych. Przewodnik był nierzadko tragarzem i jako jedyny doświadczony turysta sam asekurował prowadzone przez siebie towarzystwo. Teraz takie sytuacje są możliwe tylko w Tatrach na trasach nieznakowanych, gdzie i tak trzeba starać się o zezwolenie TPN. Na wszystkich pozostałych trasach przewodnik jest faktycznie zbędnym dodatkiem, no chyba, że zlikwidujemy szlaki znakowane i wszystko powróci do stanu z XIX w.
